7 Feb 2007

Thailand’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers DTAC has launched a new wireless business solutions division, in a move aimed at increasing its corporate client revenues by 40% this year, according to chief executive Sigve Brekke. The company also plans to apply for new WiMAX and Wi-Fi licences once the National Telecommunications Commission makes them available. Brekke said: ‘We expect a 50% share in the Thai business solutions market this year, up from 40% currently…The proportion of corporate revenue is expected to increase to 15-20% of total post-paid revenue this year, compared with 10% [in 2006].’ He estimates that the domestic wireless business solutions market consists of around 5,000 corporate customers and 80,000 small and medium-sized companies.
