Telenor sets March as 3G launch date

22 Jan 2007

Telenor Serbia says its 3G network services will become commercially available in March. The Norwegian telco acquired 100% of Telenor Serbia, formerly known as Mobi063, in July last year for EUR1.51 billion. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, at the end of September 2006 it had a 37.8% share of the Serbian market with 2.28 million subscribers. Its sole competitor is MTS, the wireless arm of Telekom Srbija, which launched its own W-CDMA network in December.
