Maroc Telecom’s annual revenues up 10.1%

Moroccan fixed line and mobile operator Maroc Telecom has posted a 10.1% year-on-year rise in revenues for the year 2006, driven by strong growth in its mobile operations. The telco, which is controlled by French media and telecoms group Vivendi, said turnover reached MAD22.62 billion (USD2.66 billion), up from MAD20.54 billion in 2005. Gross revenue growth at Telecom’s fixed line and internet unit was 5.6% while growth from mobile operations was 15%. Excluding one-off items, fourth quarter revenues rose 7.2% year-on-year to MAD5.53 billion. The company’s mobile customer base reached nearly 10.71 million subscribers by end-December 2006, up by 30% over the previous year.
