CDMA subscriber base tops 200,000

22 Jan 2007

Ukraine’s CDMA WiLL network operators had a total of 204,000 fixed wireless subscribers at the end of 2006, up from 116,000 a year earlier, according to the country’s Association of CDMA Operators. Velton Telecom led the market with 95,000 users of the technology at the end of December. It competes against International Telecommunication Company (CDMA Ukraine), Intertelecom and CST-Invest. All four operators provide fixed line WiLL services, but Intertelecom and CST-Invest also hold CDMA mobile licences in some regions. Another WiLL operator, Telesystems of Ukraine, is expected to launch commercial CDMA2000 1xEV-DO services next month.
