MTS Srbija launches 3G offering

12 Jan 2007

Serbian prime minister Vojislav Kostunica has been drafted in by Mobile Telephony of Serbia (MTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Telekom Srbija, to launch its new 3G network. Initially the high speed wireless network is only available in the capital Belgrade, as well as Novi Sad and Nis, but expansion is planned throughout 2007. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Serbia is currently home to two wireless operators — MTS and Telenor Serbia — with a third operator, Mobilkom, expected to launch in the second quarter of 2007.
