Government tenders set to draw interest from bidders

12 Jan 2007

The Czech Ministry of Informatics says that two tenders to provide four-year framework contracts for voice and data services to government institutions are expected to generate widespread interest within the domestic industry. The tenders, which have an estimated combined value of CZK11.5 billion (USD538.2 million), were first announced on 29 December last year with a deadline set for 19 February (data services) and 20 February (voice services) respectively. The award date of actual contracts is dependent upon the number of applications received, says ministry spokeswoman Markéta Hoidekrová, adding that the ministry will make the decision as soon as possible. Up to ten firms are expected to take part, including GTS Novera and incumbent operator Telefónica O2 Czech Republic.
