CWJ plans USD200 million internet upgrade

8 Jan 2007

Cable and Wireless Jamaica (CWJ) has announced that it will undertake a JOD200 million (USD3.13 million) network upgrade over the next three months which will allow it to increase its broadband capacity to 128,000 customers. The expansion will also enable it to offer enhanced services such as video on demand. ‘Once the upgrade has been completed, we anticipate that the problems that are currently being experienced by our customers (mainly slow speeds) will be reduced considerably,’ a spokesperson from the company said. ‘In fact we are confident that our customers will immediately notice an improvement in their connection speed.’
