Vodafone expresses interest in rivals’ assets

Vodafone Portugal is reportedly interested in acquiring any wireless assets freed up following the proposed merger of its two local cellular rivals, TMN and Optimus. Conditions imposed on the planned takeover by Optimus’ parent Sonaecom of TMN’s sole shareholder Portugal Telecom include the sale of certain wireless assets. The Financial Times reports that Vodafone has confirmed its interest in these assets to the Portuguese government.
