HT wireless, wireline units merge

2 Jan 2007

Bosnian cellco HT Mobilne Komunikacije (formerly known as Eronet) and fixed line operator HT Mostar have merged, with effect from 1 January 2007. HT Mostar president Stipe Prlic told a press conference that demand for fixed-mobile convergence had prompted the merger. The Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation Government will share ownership of the enlarged business with Croatia’s T-Hrvatski Telekom, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom. HT Mostar offers fixed line services in the region around the town of Mostar, but also holds a nationwide mobile operating licence, whilst HT Mobilne Komunikacije provides cellular services predominantly in Herzegovina. The merged company will look to expand wireless services nationwide. The state now holds 50.1% of the enlarged HT Mostar, with T-Hrvatski Telekom taking a 49.9% stake.
