11 Dec 2006

According to the head of the Jordanian telecoms regulator, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), the winner of a national WiMAX concession, scheduled to be awarded later this week, will not include the right to offer cellular wireless services. 14 companies have been invited to bid for the WiMAX concession. The new licensee will offer services on an exclusive basis for a period of six months, at which time a second licence will be awarded.
