Connectivity includes Coetivy

23 Nov 2006

Airtel Seychelles has connected the island of Coetivy to its GSM/GPRS mobile network. The small low-lying island, one of some 115 islands of the Seychelles, is 250km away from Mahe, and is world famous for its prawn farming. Coverage of Coetivy was achieved by setting up a VSAT link through Intelsat satellite IS 906, and a new base station which gives full coverage to the entire isle and a 20km-30km radius of surrounding sea.
