debitel looks to divest international subsidiaries

Germany’s largest mobile reseller debitel is looking for buyers for its operations in Denmark, France, Holland and Slovenia. Its foreign operations had a total of 1.8 million customers at the end of 2005 and were responsible for a quarter of its revenues. debitel Denmark, which is expected to fetch EUR174 million (USD223.2 million), has already attracted five potential bidders including Norwegian and Swedish incumbents Telenor and TeliaSonera. The largest subsidiary is the Dutch division, which had 1.15 million customers at the end of 2005, followed by debitel France with 124,000 and debitel Slovenia with 90,000.
