Cable and Wireless Jamaica’s (C&WJ’s) net profit shot up 44% to JOD523 million (USD8.1 million) in its fiscal second quarter ending 30 September 2006, boosted by increased returns from its internet arm. Revenues for the three month period increased by more than 14% to JOD6.2 billion due to increased mobile usage and the addition of new ADSL subscribers. The company’s operating expenses dipped by JOD200 million to JOD5.96 billion, resulting in healthier operating profit, which rose from JOD1.69 billion to JOD1.9 billion.
