Mobile operator CellularOne Bermuda has announced it has upgraded its wireless data network to the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A standard, using equipment supplied by Lucent Technologies. CellularOne plans to use the improved capabilities to offer broadband wireless data services, it said in a statement. The cellco is currently testing the new network prior to a full blown commercial launch and plans to introduce new services including instant messaging, voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) communications, e-mail, video conferencing, multiplayer gaming and fully interactive multimedia services by early 2007.
