Third quarter figures released by Danish operator Sonofon show increasing customer numbers and earnings (EBITDA). In the three months to September 2006 Sonofon, the country’s second-placed cellco, claimed an additional 41,000 subscribers, making a total of nearly 1.6 million, including its wholly-owned MVNO CBB Mobil. Earnings were up 25% on the same period last year to DKK362 million (USD48.6 million). During the quarter Sonofon launched 3G mobile services in the largest towns and cities in Denmark. Its internet subsidiary, Cybercity, also reported increased revenue and earnings.

Meanwhile leading cellco TDC Mobil says it will have a further 23 towns enjoying its 3G services by the end of 2006, plus another 27 in the first quarter of 2007. TDC, which according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database ended June 2006 with a 48.6% share of the wireless market launched 3G services in October 2005, and already covers the 30 largest cities and towns. Over 30,000 of its 2.6 million subscribers use its W-CDMA network, known as ‘Fly’.
