Drillisch increases stake in mobilcom

30 Oct 2006

German MVNO Drillisch has increased its stake in fellow mobile services reseller mobilcom to 10.37%. It plans to raise its stake to 20%, which will give it influence in mobilcom to persuade it to merge with other MVNOs. Drillisch’s ultimate goal, reported in CommsUpdate last week, is to form a ‘powerful alliance’ in the MVNO sector to rival leading wireless operators T-Mobile Deutschland and Vodafone Germany. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, mobilcom is Germany’s second largest MVNO, with 4.97 million subscribers at the end of H1 2006, behind debitel with 9 million and ahead of Talkline with 3.58 million.
