URS near-quadruples its user base

25 Oct 2006

Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS) has almost quadrupled its mobile subscriber base since the beginning of the year to a million users, according to a press release yesterday. URS claims it now provides services in ‘320 cities and 2,400 localities’, covering 60% of the country’s population, and plans to expand its GSM network to cover around 90% of populated areas by the end of the year. URS is wholly owned by Russian cellco Vimpelcom, which relaunched it under the Beeline brand in April.
