Elisa 3Q sales up 19%

20 Oct 2006

Finnish telco Elisa Corporation posted improved third quarter sales, boosted by strong performance at its mobile unit. Elisa’s revenues rose to EUR387 million (USD489 million) in the three months ended 30 September 2006, up from EUR326 million a year earlier, beating analysts’ estimates. Excluding non-recurring items, pre-tax profit reached EUR69 million, up from EUR28 million, and EBITDA increased from EUR85 million to EUR123 million. Elisa ended September with 2.16 million mobile subscribers and 1.34 million fixed line subscriptions in Finland, including 479,586 broadband customers. It also had 288,600 mobile users in Estonia at that date. Elisa used the announcement to reveal plans to expand its W-CDMA network to seven new locations by the end of November; the company does not reveal its 3G operating statistics.
