Idea launches in Rajasthan

Indian mobile operator Idea Cellular last week launched services in Rajasthan. The cellco’s GSM/GPRS network is being rolled out across the entire state in two phases. In the first phase, 145 towns and villages are being covered, including major towns like Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Alwar, Ganganagar, Bhilwara and Ajmer, with 70 additional towns and villages, and major highways to follow. Idea has more than ten million mobile subscribers and operates in Delhi, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Upper Pradesh (West), Kerala and Himachal Pradesh. It plans to extend its network to Upper Pradesh (East) by year-end.
