FINTEL selects Paclink for nationwide WiMAX service

Australian advanced telecommunications access solutions provider Paclink Communications has been appointed to implement a nationwide WiMAX service for Fiji International Telecommunications (FINTEL). Founded in 1994, Paclink delivers cost effective access solutions used to support local and wide area networking domains, including: multiservice access platforms, centrally managed local loop modems, ATM interworking, multiservice access concentrators for transparent LAN services, TDMoIP gateways, compressed voice systems, integrated access devices, Ethernet access devices, internet/intranet access routers and bridges, and integrated fibre-optic broadband access devices.

Formed in December 1976, FINTEL is Fiji’s international telecoms provider, linking the country to the rest of the world through submarine cables and satellite, via an agreement with national network operator Telecom Fiji. FINTEL is a private company, jointly owned by the government of Fiji (51%) and Cable and Wireless UK (49%).
