Brazilian long-distance operator Embratel has awarded Nortel a contract to upgrade its CDMA2000 1x fixed wireless network. The improvements will increase capacity and enhance service quality for more than a million subscribers to its Livre service. According to BNamericas, Nortel will upgrade Embratel’s Livre network in Sao Paulo using its CDMA2000 1x radio base stations, base station controllers, CDMA Packet MSC and other related equipment.
