TOT pressing to take over 3G spectrum

29 Sep 2006

Thailand’s National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has given permission for CAT Telecom to transfer 3G wireless spectrum in the 1900MHz band to fellow state-owned telco TOT Corp, reports local newspaper The Nation. The W-CDMA bandwidth is currently owned by the pair’s joint venture Thai Mobile. TOT still has to ask the Communications and Finance Ministries to confirm that the NTC’s decision will ‘benefit the country’, according to TOT’s acting president Somchai TheanAnant.
