27 Sep 2006

Dutch cable TV operator Casema has installed Transmode’s TS-1100 C/DWDM platform to support the further development of triple-play services in the Netherlands. The new network will provide the cableco with Gigabit Ethernet and SDH capacity to support the expansion of existing triple-play services, as well as high-capacity services being offered directly to large enterprise customers. The company said Phase I of the upgrade, comprising 40 nodes, was completed at the end of August. The deployment is being supported by Belgium-based Arcadiz Telecom which offers a range of telecoms solutions, including fibre-optic transmission solutions (including CWDM, DWDM, SDH and Metro-Ethernet solutions), over UMTS-related solutions for mobile operators to digital broadcast video transmission (DVB) for cable operators and off-network solutions for international operating carriers.

Casema is one of the largest pay-TV operators in the Netherlands with a residential customer base of around 1.4 million subscribers. Its business division, Casema Zakelijk, provides high-end services to enterprise customers across the region. Its network is located mainly in the central and southwestern parts of the Netherlands. Casema is active in such cities as The Hague, Utrecht, Amersfoort and Breda.
