Ericsson to expand AKTEL coverage

22 Sep 2006

Telecom Malaysia International Bangladesh (TMIB, AKTEL), has selected Ericsson to expand its GSM/GPRS network in the Dhaka and Chittagong areas. Under the agreement, Ericsson will supply and install core and radio infrastructure and provide a range of support services. The rollout has already started and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. As well as increasing TMIB’s subscriber capacity, the expansion is expected to improve network service quality and performance. TMIB is a joint venture between Telekom Malaysia (70%) and local firm AK Khan & Co (30%).
