mCel gets UMTS licence

20 Sep 2006

Mozambique’s state-owned cellular operator mCel has been awarded a 3G licence according to a report from the Mozambique News Agency. The report says that the market’s other player, Vodacom, has not been offered an UMTS concession. mCel, which has just over a million customers, says it plans to launch 3G services in mid-2007.
