Ghana’s national operator Ghana Telecom (GT) says it will roll out broadband internet access services to Kumasi, Koforidua and Takoradi before the end of this year, adding Tamale in the first quarter of 2007. A spokesman for GT said the service is currently available only in Accra and Tema, where high speed access is being offered for residential and corporate institutions. GT believes that broadband will be its primary platform for all IT-based services and is already the fastest growing service segment. The telco says it is adding new broadband customers at a rate of 20 to 30 a day and hopes to increase this to 50 per day by September 2006.
