Astelit/DCC to complete merger

15 Aug 2006

Ukrainian mobile operator Digital Cellular Communications (DCC) has decided to liquidate its assets and complete its merger into its sister company, Astelit, the company said in a statement yesterday. Both DCC and Astelit are owned by Netherlands-based Eurasia Telecommunication Holdings, a joint venture of Turkey’s Turkcell and Ukrainian holding company System Capital Management. Eurasia decided to merge DCC into Astelit in April. Astelit/DCC is Ukraine’s third largest cellco with 3.91 million TDMA/GSM subscribers at the end of June, behind Kyivstar with 16 million and UMC with 15.1 million.
