Lawmakers consider revised 3G licence fees

31 Jul 2006

Lawmakers in the Philippines are mulling proposals to bring in revised licence fees for the country’s existing 3G licensees. The House of Representatives’ committee on Oversight and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are thought to be studying plans to introduce ‘upfront and yearly broad spectrum fees’ for Smart Communications, Globe Telecom, Digital Telecommunications (Digitel) and CURE (Connectivity Unlimited Resources Enterprise Inc), following a long-running dispute over the terms and conditions of the original licence awards.
