Ukraine to auction five WiMAX licences this autumn

27 Jul 2006

Ukraine’s National Commission on Communications Regulation (NCCR) is planning to auction five licences for WiMAX broadband services in September-November, the regulator’s spokesman Vladimir Oleinik told local press on Tuesday, adding that around 30 operators had already expressed an interest. The three national and two regional concessions up for grabs each include a 40MHz spectrum allocation in the 5GHz frequency band. The starting price for a national licence is set at UAH1.09 million (USD225,000).
