Maroc Télécom first half revenues up 11.6%

26 Jul 2006

Moroccan incumbent fixed line and mobile operator Maroc Télécom continued its recent double-digit sales growth in the first half of 2006, posting consolidated revenues of MAD10.89 billion (USD1.25 billion), up 11.6% year-on-year, on the back of good performance at its internet and mobile divisions. Its mobile business achieved revenues of MAD6.96 billion, up 16.4%, driven by 24.2% year-on-year growth in its customer base, which reached 8.924 million at the end of June. Its ADSL base rose by 83,000 in the period to reach a total of 325,000 lines, helped by price promotions and the launch of IP-TV services. The number of fixed lines stood at nearly 1.31 million at the end of the period, down 2.9% compared to June 2005. Télécom is expecting full-year turnover growth to exceed 8%, up on its previous 6%-8% growth prediction.
