Rogers challenges Aliant in NB

30 Jun 2006

Canadian cable operator Rogers Communications is preparing to launch local telephony services in New Brunswick’s three largest cities on 1 July, breaking the regional monopoly of Aliant. Rogers’ decision to go head-to-head in the home phone market marks the first time residents of Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John will be able to choose their service provider. Initially, the service will only cover areas in and around New Brunswick’s major cities, but it plans to eventually expand to include more of the province.
