Dutch get new MVNO in Lycamobile

A new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) has entered the Dutch market in the shape of Lycamobile, the mobile arm of international calling card operator Lycatel. According to Telecompaper, Lycamobile, which already sells pre-paid mobile phone cards with discounted international call rates in Italy and Belgium, has struck a deal with T-Mobile Netherlands to lease capacity on its network. Although it is the first MVNO deal concluded by T-Mobile, Lycamobile joins the growing ranks of virtual mobile operators in the Dutch market, which now number more than 30. The newcomer’s parent is already active in the country as well as in other European markets where its sells pre-paid international calling cards.
