UPC’s Czech unit launches VoIP service

Czech cableco UPC Czech, owned by the Liberty Global group, has launched a commercial VoIP service in ten major urban areas using equipment supplied by Siemens of Germany. The move follows an earlier VoIP launch in October 2005 by privately owned ISP Czech Online and a statement from incumbent Cesky Telecom saying that it is planning to launch its own IP telephony service.
