Eurotel, T-Mobile’s 3G networks cover most of Prague, says regulator

14 Jun 2006

According to the chairman of the Czech Telecoms Office (CTU), Pavel Dvorak, two of the country’s mobile network operators – Eurotel and T-Mobile Czech – have met the terms of their 3G licence awards by rolling out services to almost the entire area of Prague ahead of the January 2007 deadline. T-Mobile launched its UMTS service in the autumn of 2005, and Eurotel followed suit in December. The third player in the market, Vodafone (formerly Oskar), plans to launch its commercial service early next year. It paid CZK2 billion (USD89 million) for its licence in 2005 and is required to launch by January 2008.
