MTN Uganda extends fibre-optic network

According to AllAfrica.com, MTN Uganda has extended its fibre-optic network to the Mbarara and Bugiri districts of the country. Uganda’s second national operator claims over one million customers and began deploying a fibre-optic network in 2000 in capital city Kampala. Currently Kampala is home to over 600 buildings directly connected to the network. MTN’s CTO said in a statement that there are plans to expand the network to the northern part of the country by the end of this year.
