Hungarian telecoms operator Magyar Telekom yesterday announced that it plans to acquire a 10% stake in fixed line operator Makedonski Telekommunikacii (MakTel), following reports that the government of the Republic of Macedonia is selling off a 45% holding in the telco. Magyar Telekom already owns 51% of MakTel, while the Macedonian government has 47.12% and IFC 1.88%.
