Aliant and Bell expand EV-DO coverage

31 May 2006

Canadian mobile operator Aliant yesterday announced plans to expand its EV-DO wireless data network coverage to metropolitan areas of Atlantic Canada. Aliant launched its EV-DO service in Halifax in February 2006, and the service is now available in Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton in New Brunswick; Charlottetown, P.E.I; and St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Elsewhere, Aliant’s larger rival Bell Mobility has extended its EV-DO network to Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph, western Lake Rosseau, Bala, Port Carling, and Gamebridge, in Ontario’s ‘cottage country’, a popular holiday destination for city-dwellers.
