Golden Telecom’s Q1 net profit slips 6%, revenues up 14%

Russian and CIS telco Golden Telecom’s first quarter net profit slipped by 6% to USD18.8 billion compared with the same period of 2005, on revenues that rose by 14% to USD178.1 million. Operating profit for the period was USD28.2 million, up 3% year-on-year, whilst EBITDA rose 4% to USD50.8 million. Earlier, Golden reported full-year 2005 net profits of USD76.1 million, up by 17% from 2004.

Golden Telecom last week acquired 100% of Ukrainian alternative operator TTK, which provides telephony and internet services in Ivano-Frankivsk. TTK has 11,300 fixed line subscribers; Ivano-Frankivsk has a population of more than 300,000.
