Magnet turns up the heat on eircom with EUR15 package

3 May 2006

Magnet Networks, which markets services under the Magnet Entertainment banner, has turned up the heat in the Irish broadband market with the launch of a EUR15 per month package that undercuts all its competitors. The new service comprises an unlimited 2Mbps connection, but excludes line rental, and Magnet is attempting to lure customers by posting a map on its website which shows the public exactly where the service is available. eircom’s best offering is a capped 20 hours per month service priced at EUR19.99 a month.

In a separate story, Magnet Networks says it has signed a contract to be the exclusive fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) provider for a new building development at Adamstown in Dublin. The company has won a deal to provide fibre-optic connections to as many as 10,000 homes being built as part of the project.
