Elisa’s 1Q profit shrinks

25 Apr 2006

Finnish telco Elisa Corporation has posted a EUR3 million drop in net profit for the first quarter of 2006 to EUR30 million (USD37 million), despite a 5% rise in revenues to EUR192 million, from EUR179 million. Turnover at the group’s mobile business in Finland and Estonia increased by 7%, whilst domestic fixed network revenues increased 11%, due to a strong performance from its broadband business, including recently acquired operator Saunalahti. EBITDA was EUR99 million, up from EUR97 million in the same period a year ago.

Elisa ended March with 1.98 million mobile subscribers and 1.36 million fixed line subscriptions in Finland, including 459,827 broadband customers. It had 277,500 mobile users in Estonia at that date.
