Rothschild et cie has been retained by the Serbian government to advise on the planned sale of wireless operator Mobtel. According to a report carried by Reuters Rothschild submitted the lowest bid, beating UBS, Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Mobtel, which is currently being run by Telekom Srbija, will be sold as a package of operator’s assets and a new operating licence, with 82% of the proceeds going to the state and the remainder to a group of Austrian investors. The government has set the minimum price at EUR800 million.
