Vodafone launches HSDPA

7 Apr 2006

Vodafone Portugal has launched its first commercial services using HSDPA technology. The technology triples speeds on W-CDMA 3G networks, offering data transmission at up to 1.8Mbps. The 3.5G service is currently only available for users who buy laptop data cards, but the first HSDPA-enabled handsets are expected to be made available by the end of this year. Vodafone claims 500,000 3G users in Portugal.
