7 Apr 2006

Ukrainian Radio Systems (URS) – which operates under the brand ‘WellCOM’ – has increased its total number of base stations by 40 to 635 according to General Director Sergei Mironov. Mironov went on to say that the cellco plans to cover 80%-85% of Ukranian territory by the end of 2006 as part of an overall investment plan that will see USD500 million spent by 2010. URS – which is controlled by Russian mobile operator VimpelCom – had 275,000 at the end of the first quarter of 2006, giving it a market share of just 1%.
