Seven operators bidding for Dhaka fixed licences, more expected

A total of seven operators have so far bought applications for four fixed line licences in Bangladesh’s central telecoms zone encompassing Dhaka. The applicants include RanksTel, Westec (Bay Phone), Dhaka Telecom, Bashundhara Group, TeleBarta (Jubok Phone), Peoples Telecom, National Telecom and Square Informatix. The seven companies all hold licences for other telecoms zones in the country. Two other provincial telcos, OneTel and Jalalabad Telecom (Bijoy Phone) are expected to participate in the Dhaka tender.
