Finnet contracts Siemens for DWDM-based network

Finnish telco the Finnet Group has contracted Siemens for the delivery of an ultra-fast fibre-optic network based on DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology to help it deal with the increasing amounts of data being transferred across its infrastructure. Siemens will supply Finnet Carrier with the new DWDM-based network as a turnkey solution. The new technology will enable Finnet Carrier to deliver multiple 10Gb Ethernet LAN-PHY connection services in a single fibre. Delivery has already begun and includes SURPASS hiT 7500 hardware, software, installation and deployment from Helsinki to Oulu. No financial details were disclosed.
