Cellcos struggle with user registration

28 Mar 2006

Bangladesh’s five mobile operators are set to ask the government for an extension to a 15 May deadline to complete re-registration of around 11 million existing customers. The total cost of the process is estimated at around USD80 million, with the bulk of the costs to be covered by the operators. The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued the directive to all cellcos on 19 March.
