Dutch VoIP market to double in 2006

23 Mar 2006

According to research from Telecompaper, the Dutch residential VoIP market is forecast to double this year to around 1.6 million. The availability of IP services increased dramatically in 2005 resulting in 435,000 new subscriptions over the course of the year – roughly 10% of all broadband subscribers in the country – to lift the total to 664,000. Dutch cablecos were responsible for the largest number of new VoIP users, although ADSL providers accounted for around 200,000 new additions. National PTO KPN entered the IP telephony sector in December 2005 with the launch of its broadband VoIP product InternetPlusBellen.
