One Dial still on hold for licence

US-based network services provider One Dial Communications Limited says it is still waiting for Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) to issue it with a licence so that it can begin work on a promised USD400 million network rollout. One Dial applied for the licence in 2003, but is still waiting to be told why it has not yet been granted a licence to operate. According to Mr. Bing Aidoo, chief executive officer of One Dial, the initial investment would create IT villages in several locations which would foreign and domestic companies to site their ICT and other ICT related industries there. According to reports in AllAfrica, a further USD1 billion investment could be brought in after the first phase of the investment is successful.
