eMobile, the mobile arm of eAccess and a new entrant to the Japanese 3G market, has picked Ericsson as the main supplier of its new W-CDMA/HSDPA network. The start-up is planning an aggressive entry into the sector offering high quality, high speed services. Under the deal Ericsson will deploy a nationwide core network and W-CDMA radio networks in the 1.7GHz band in areas such as Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, enabling eMobile to launch commercial services in March 2007. eMobile was awarded one of the three 3G licences that the Japanese government granted in November 2005 to increase the competition on the market.
