Babcock & Brown eases ahead as largest eircom shareholder

7 Mar 2006

Australia’s Babcock & Brown Capital yesterday increased its stake in Ireland’s largest telco eircom to 22.8% to become its largest single shareholder. Along with its parent company, Babcock & Brown Ltd, the group now controls 24.5% of eircom, and is awaiting a response from its board to a friendly approach it made in late February. The other major eircom shareholder is the Employee Share Ownership Trust (ESOT) with a 22% interest.
